Property prices up in October 2011

Accordingly to the Halifax mortgage lender this month, house prices rose in October 2011 by 1.2%.

That means the average house price is now a little over £163,000.00, which is slightly higher than the same time last year.

The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors has also released a survey this month recording a rise in activity, although they said that prices were slightly down.

It is believed in some areas that the housing market continues to be propped up by the low Bank of England interest rate which has remained at a record low of only 0.5% throughout this year.
